Law New for 2005

Law new refers to legislation proposed, debated, and passed by Congress or another legislative body. The term is also used to refer to an official rule or regulation that governs behavior within a society or country. Legislation can be in the form of a bill or statute.

Providing notice regarding student loan forgiveness programs. This bill would require the Department of Citywide Administrative Services, in consultation with the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP), to prepare a notice for employees and job applicants of City agencies to inform them of federal and state student loan forgiveness programs that may be available.

Establishing licensing requirements for third-party food delivery services. This bill would create a new subchapter in Chapter 5 of Title 20 of the Administrative Code of the City of New York that contains licensing requirements for third-party food delivery services, and repeals the existing laws regulating such services that are found in Subchapters 2311-A, 2333-A, and 2335-A of Chapter 5. It would also provide that the department could deny or refuse to renew a license or suspend or revoke a license if a service violated the provisions of this bill.

The bill would also allow the Department to set a maximum gross gasoline refining margin to help combat fuel price gouging, and authorizes the City to use public funds to purchase affordable housing units for low-income households.
